THE PROBLEM
Coercive and controlling behaviour became a criminal offence in England and Wales in 2015. Ten years on, 76% of cases still result in No Further Action.
Not because the evidence does not exist. Because the systems investigating these cases are built to look at incidents, not patterns. A single message, a single incident, a single allegation can look minor in isolation. Seen together, over time, they tell a completely different story.
Most survivors know this. They have lived it. And many have documented it carefully, only to be told it does not amount to anything.
THE SOLUTION
I have built PatternShield™, a working AI tool that identifies coercive control patterns in evidence. It maps behaviour chronologically, flags escalation risks, and generates clear, structured outputs that show what a pattern of abuse actually looks like.
To test that it works accurately on real cases, I need real evidence. Specifically, I need anonymised documentation from survivors whose cases were investigated by police and closed with No Further Action.
Your evidence will not be used in any legal proceedings. It will not be shared with police or any other agency. It will be fully anonymised before any analysis takes place. Its only purpose is to test and improve a tool designed to stop what happened to you happening to someone else.
My own case was dismissed by police as a relationship issue. The perpetrator subsequently escalated to violence against his next partner.
I founded Safe Haven Education because that should not have happened. Not to me, and not to her. The evidence was there. The pattern was clear. The system just did not have the tools to see it.
PatternShield™ is built to change that.
I am looking for survivors who:
Experienced pattern-based, non-physical coercive and controlling behaviour
Reported to police and received No Further Action or an inadequate response
Still have their own documentation, including messages, timelines, emails, or correspondence
Have kept any communications from or about the police response
You do not need to have a complete file. You do not need to have done everything right. You just need to have evidence that a pattern existed.
Participation is completely voluntary. Everything is anonymised. You can withdraw at any time.
